This is the heartwarming moment kind school teachers rescued a litter of puppies trapped under a large potted plant during a storm in Thailand.

Tor Pongpat and his female colleague heard the young animals crying just as rain came pouring down on Sa Kaeo province on July 27.

They followed the sounds and found the hapless creatures whimpering in a small pit under a large stone pot. They are believed to have been left there after the mother gave birth but they were trapped during the deluge.

Without hesitation, the heroic woman removed her shoes and dived right into the dirt, sticking her arm into the hole to probe for the pups. She had to move quickly as the rain was filling with water from the downpour.

After almost 10 minutes, the lady managed to retrieve all eight puppies. The pair then washed them before sheltering them away from the storm.

Tor said: 'My friend was very determined to rescue the dogs. I'm just happy we managed to help them just in time.'

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until late November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
