Here's a group of boys making a valiant effort to save a mammal from a trap.

This video shows a hedgehog trapped in a teeny-tiny hole, which Thomas Winter and his friends notice while playing football nearby.

They try putting their hands in the hole to get it out, but it doesn't work. They eventually contact RSPCA, an acclaimed charity specializing in animal rescue.

"We decided to call the RSPCA, hoping they could help us get it out, and that’s exactly what they did," Thomas said. "We have no idea how long the hedgehog had been in there. It must've been in so much pain.

"As soon as the RSPCA got it out, one could tell it was injured because it had a distinct smell coming from it, but luckily it was still alive and we were all happy we could save its life."
