A black magic tattoo artist sparked outrage after allegedly hiring coyote dancers who performed a sexy dance next to a Buddhist shrine.

Teerapong Chairak, also known as Hermit Master Pete Ongdam, reportedly made the scantily-clad girls dance while he was inking customers with 'tattoo spells' in Khon Kaen province, Thailand.

The artist recently shared a video of the dancers to amuse his followers but it sparked a backlash from offended fans instead.

Footage shows the coyote dancers bopping to lively music in front of Buddha statues while he draw patterns on a customer's back.

One of his followers said: ‘Why are you making these young women dance in front of the Buddhas? You should be ashamed. This is disrespectful.'

The tattoo artist, 35, claimed that a customer hired the dancers for him as a gift after he successfully used tattoo black magic to help her win back her philandering husband.

He said: ‘A customer prayed to me and she asked for a tattoo that would make her husband fall in love with her again.

‘She promised, saying that if the tattoo works, she would hire the dancers for me. Not so long after, her husband came home and became the perfect family man.'

The tattooist added that he posted the video as he thought it would be entertaining to his followers and that the issue was taken out of proportion.

He added: ‘I'm not trying to show off. It was taken out of proportion. What happened is proof that the black magic tattoos work. I'm nobody and I learned everything from another popular hermit that worked with the rescue team in Bangkok.'

Thailand's culture believes in the ancient tradition of mystical tattooing which is largely tied to their Buddhist religion. The designs are believed to carry powerful spells.

Buddhism is the official religion in Thailand which is practised by more than 95 per cent of the population. The religion is also widely practised in neighbouring countries Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
