Sunbathers have been flocking to Fistral Bay and other beaches in Cornwall as the UK moves into a new heatwave.

Footage shot on Saturday 6 August showed the beach covered with people as families head to the West Country in south-west England to take advantage of the latest sunny weather.

Surfers, swimmers and plain paddlers cooled off in the sea as others sheltered under beachside umbrellas at bars and cafes.

Meanwhile preparations were under way for the upcoming Boardmasters surf and music festival, which combines an international surfing contest and a music festival. The event is spread between Fistral Bay and Watergate bay, four miles (6km) away and happens between the 10th and 14th of August.
