Hundreds of thousands of people lined Amsterdam's historic canals on Saturday 6 August to celebrate the city's unique Canal Parade.

The floating LGBTQ+ Pride parade is a flotilla of 80 brightly-decorated boats packed with people partying, singing and waving rainbow flags, balloons and umbrellas.

The boats, represented rights groups, bars, clothing brands and even the Dutch military, made their way slowly through the waterways for the first time in three years. The Covid pandemic had forced the cancellation of the otherwise annual event in 2021 and 2022.

Hundreds of thousands of spectators lined Amsterdam's historic canals Saturday to celebrate Canal Parade, a Pride flotilla of 80 brightly decorated boats packed with people partying, singing and waving rainbow flags, balloons and umbrellas.

The boats representing rights groups, bars, clothing brands and even the Dutch military made their way slowly through the waterways in a resumption of the hugely popular LGBTQ Pride event that had been canceled for two years amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
