A snake was rescued after it sneaked into the prayer room of a house in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened in the Krishna Nagar area of Korba district on August 7.

Visuals showed the snake sitting in front of a picture of a goddess in the prayer room of Shiv Kumar Soni's house. The reptile had its hood up and was ready to strike. Upon discovering it, the family members felt blessed since it is the month of 'Sawan' and a snake appearing is considered to be holy. They simultaneously informed snake catcher Jitendra Sarathi, who reached the spot in about 15 minutes.

Sarathi was seen carefully removing the goddess' picture and other prayer paraphernalia to take out the snake that had gone into hiding underneath all of it. He carefully picked up the snake who hissed and tried to strike several times in the process.

Next, he took out the reptile in the open and carefully put it inside a plastic container and shut its lid. Later, the snake was released into the wild.
