The strikes occurred barely 12 hours after Moscow and Kyiv signed a deal to allow monitored grain exports from Odessa and other ports in southern Ukraine. A statement from officials at Odessa’s city council reads: “ The enemy attacked the Odesa sea trade port with Kalibr cruise missiles. 2 missiles were shot down by air defense forces. 2 hit the infrastructure of the port.” Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Russia of “barbarism” following the attacks claiming the Kremlin could not be trusted to stick to the deal. “This proves only one thing: no matter what Russia says and promises, it will find ways not to implement it,” he told U.S. lawmakers. The attack was one of a series of recent Russian strikes across Ukraine, with the city of Kropyvnytskyi hit by 13 missiles and attacks reported in Kharkiv, where a residential area was hit, killing at least three people, as well as in the southern city of Mykolaiv.
