Police have arrested an idiotic man for placing a vape in the mouth of a baby girl in Malaysia.

North Johor Bahru Regional Police said they have detained the suspect, 23, who was filmed playing with the infant and jokingly inserting the electronic cigarette into its mouth in a restaurant in Johor Bahru City, Johor State on August 6.

The 15-second video shows the man repeatedly pressing what looks like a pod vape to the baby girl's lips several times, pretending it was a milk bottle. The child did not appear to inhale the fluid inside.

District police commander Rupiah Abd Wahid said the baby's mum had filed a complaint with them.

She said: 'The complainant was eating at a restaurant in Bandar Baru Uda with her daughter, sister and her sister's friend, who is the suspect in the incident.

'Suddenly, the suspect who was holding the baby put a non-functioning vape in the baby's mouth while the sister recorded it.'

Rupiah said they have filed a remand order for the unnamed man, who is facing charges for alleged violation of Malaysia's Children's Act.

If found guilty, he may be fined a sum of 50,000 RM (11,220 USD) and a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said e-liquids used in vapes may contain nicotine, cannabis, and other chemicals such as flavouring and propylene glycol that mimic the smoke in traditional cigarettes.
