A shocked resident found a 13ft-long snake hanging on a chicken coop.

Usa Pan-Ngen, 29, contacted the animal rescue volunteers after seeing the huge snake stalking her chickens in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand on August 3.

Upon arrival, the team used a flashlight to locate the wild animal before it was spotted wrapping its body around the wooden beam.

The specialists reached for the snake using a catching pole and took hold of its head. However, the team broke the entire wooden structure while pulling it down due to the snake's tight entanglement.

The house owner said: ‘My mother noticed the dog was barking loudly, so she went outside and found the big snake.

‘There have been different kinds of reptiles visiting my home to eat the chicken and we would always be the ones to drive them away. This snake was very big so we had to call for help.'

The python wiggled free and slithered back into the chicken coop in search of food, but after 30 minutes, the snake was exhausted, allowing the volunteers to capture it and keep it inside a sack.

They measured the snake and released it into a river away from the village.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
