A sudden outbreak of a war between two groups of monkeys shook up residents of Hanur, a small town in the state of Karnataka, India. Two groups of monkeys came face to face near the Santepete area of the town. One group was trying to move in from a neighboring area, while the other group was defending its territory. Both screeched and attacked each other till local residents broke up the fight. Thousands of monkeys live in Hanur town, which is close to a thick forest, but the fight was unprecedented, said Srinivasa, a local resident, who thinks the rising population of the monkeys may be adding pressure on territory.
