Impatient commuter sets off alarm trying to pull open doors at train station in India
An impatient commuter set off an alarm while trying to pry open the platform screen doors at a train station in India.
The man was caught on CCTV forcing apart the doors at the Dahisar East Metro 7 station in Mumbai on August 7 morning. Despite triggering the alarm, he carried on with his attempts at entry.
His actions prevented trains from both up and down lines from entering the platform for safety, a Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) official said.
Authorities said there were reportedly no delays as the problem was resolved in two minutes. Staff later checked the security footage, which revealed the passenger's tampering of the screen doors.
The MMMOCL official said: 'Tampering in such a way warrants imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 (roughly 63 USD) or both under section 67 (obstructing running of train, etc.) of the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002. We request Mumbaikars to desist from such acts.'
