A greedy python regurgitated five chickens and their eggs after being caught having a feast inside a farmer's coop.

The ravenous 10ft-long reptile was discovered by the shocked house owner when he went to feed the clucking hens in Surin province, Thailand on August 9.

It had a bulging stomach and could barely move in the corner of the cage while the other terrified birds cowered to the opposite side.

Animal rescuers pulled the snake out of the coop where it spat out the dead birds before trying to slither away - but it was too slow after such a large meal..

Resident Nang Noi said: ‘The reptile handlers told me that the snake regurgitates its prey when it is disturbed so it can make space for its body to escape faster. It's the snake's natural instinct.

‘Watching the snake letting out the chicken through its mouth was very scary. I feel sorry for my poor little birds.'

The snake wranglers used a snare to trap the python's neck, preventing it from escaping. After a few wiggles, the snake regurgitated all five chickens it swallowed along with three other eggs.

The python was then captured and kept inside a bag to later be freed to the wild.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
