A stranded elderly couple was dangled over a fast-flowing river during a risky rescue operation in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu.

The couple who lived in a remote village had become stuck in their house, surrounded by floodwater.

Officials made a makeshift bridge so they could pull the couple over on a stretcher.

At one point it seemed as if the elderly woman was about to slide off the stretcher and into the water.

The couple were both safely rescued and thanked the officials for their efforts.

Monsoon rains have been striking Tamilnadu for the past couple of weeks. As a result the rivers has been flooded and water are gushing above the river banks.

An elderly couple who was staying in a remote village of Tamilnadu got struck in the house that was flooded in all sides.

Fire and rescue personal was informed about and they rushed to the spot.

Since they can't able to walk on the makeshift bridge that was laid on the roaring river, They were tied on stretcher and was pulled away from one bank of the river to another bank of the river safely.

They couple later thanked the fire and rescue personal for their tireless efforts in rescuing them despite of heavy rains.
