Port of London Medway, Kent reports increased trade after Dover delays, UK

The Port of London Medway in Kent has reported a significant increase in trade following recent delays and congestion at the Port of Dover.

London Medway, an alternative port to Dover - which is more commonly known as the Port of Sheerness - claimed there had been a 34 per cent increase in units in the last fortnight as congestion issues continue to plague South East ports.

The port in conjunction with ferry operator DFDS offers an unaccompanied freight service between Sheerness and Calais, using ferry Botnia Seaways.

The route reportedly also experienced a 30 per cent increase in unit volumes between April and June this year compared to the last six months.

Footage shows vessel Botnia Seaways departing Sheerness this morning loaded with unaccompanied trailers bound for Europe.
