Field on fire in Watford as police tell locals to stay away
A field has caught fire in Watford, Hertfordshire on Saturday (August 13).
Footage shows firefighters arriving on the scene and tackling the blaze.
"Farmland catches fire as people told to stay away from area," Newsflare's filmer said. "Firefighters stopped the flames that swept across a large swathe of land coming dangerously close to the main road."
Hertfordshire Police tweeted earlier on Saturday: "We are currently assisting the fire and rescue service at the scene of a large fire in a field behind Tolpits Lane in #Watford. Road closures are in place and we advise people to avoid the area."
The cause of the fire is unknown but several fires occurred in the UK after another day of scorching heat.
