Typhoon Meari (No.8) made landfall on the Izu Peninsula, Japanese Pacific coast, southwest of Tokyo on Saturday, August 13. This clip shows high waves seen from a beach in Shimoda, Shizuoka at the southern tip of the peninsula.
Meari also brought heavy rains and flooding to widespread areas, causing travel disruptions during the peak summer holiday season.
