Motorcycle rider gets stuck on flooded road in the Philippines
This is the moment a motorcycle rider became stuck while trying to cross a flooded road in the Philippines.
Footage shows biker Joel Carino braving the waist-deep water swamping the road following heavy rain in Mandaue City, Cebu province on August 12. However, the floodwater caused his engine to stall, and he had to push it across the deluge the rest of the way.
Joel said: 'I had no intention of making the news. I was just buying coffee.'
He added that the flood receded an hour later.
State weather agency PAGASA said the Habagat or southwest monsoon is still prevailing over the country, bringing rain showers and thunderstorms that can cause flash floods and landslides.
The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
