A shocked family found a 13ft-long king cobra hiding in their BED in Indonesia.

The family discovered the highly-venomous reptile perched on the mattress in a bedroom at their home in West Java province on August 16.

Footage shows the snake rearing up at them while it was coiled among the fluffy pillows.

Fire and Rescue Service Officer Muhamad Rizki said: ‘We immediately rushed to the home after receiving reports from residents. The snake has a deadly poison, so it needed to be evacuated quickly.'

Eyewitnesses said the snake was first found crawling among the plants in the garden area behind the house but then disappeared. It later emerged in the family's bedroom.

Risk added: ‘The snake might have entered through the window. Residents tried to remove it and caused it harm.'

Officers had difficulty catching the snake because it repeatedly tried to escape and was agile. It was finally caught after 30 minutes.

The animal rescuer said: ‘We will release the snake in forest areas far from any homes.'
