This is the moment a three-storey house under construction was washed away by heavy floods in Myanmar.

The structure had toppled over after its foundation was weakened by the deluge in Tachileik town's Pone Thong ward on August 13.

Footage shows the building lying in the flood before being carried away in the fast-flowing currents. The house continues floating down the inundated street before being fully submerged under the brown water.

Local media said no one in the neighbourhood was hurt, and the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

The flood is believed to have been caused by the Mae Sai river that runs along Tachileik and overflows during the rainy season.

Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
