Youth gets stranded in the middle of river after getting washed away, in central India
A youth was rescued after he was left stranded in the middle of the river in central India's Madhya Pradesh.
The incident happened in the Dhasan river of Tikamgarh district on August 17.
Visuals showed the rescue operation in process with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team riding towards the area where the boy was trapped on a speed boat powered by an engine. They were then seen helping the youth get on the boat as the operation was carried out safely.
According to a report, the youth, identified as a 26-year-old named Ratiram, had gone near the river to retrieve his cattle and he got stuck in the strong current of the water. Ratiram, after getting washed away, somehow managed to save his life by sitting on the area in the middle of the river. He was reportedly stuck there for five long hours before help arrived and villagers informed the administration.
It was learnt that this phenomenon in the river happened as water was being released by the Ban Sujara dam. This increased the flow of water in the river, which in turn led to this incident.
Avantika Tiwari, the tehsildar of the area, urged the villagers to not go near the river to prevent similar incidents.
