This is the sweet moment a flock of Corella birds cooled off in a garden sprinkler amid rising temperatures in Australia.

Footage shows the white feathered cockatoos taking it in turns to splash around in the jet stream of the refreshing water in Jabiru, Northern Territory, on August 19.

Locals said the birds stopped by to freshen up amid sweltering 36 degrees Celsius temperatures.

Resident Sue Ellemor said: 'It was hot, and the birds stopped by for some cool drink outside our house.'

Last month, scientists warned that Australia could suffer temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius and severe droughts as Europe burns with record temperatures.
