A group of fire station officials rescued a mother and two children after their house got flooded in eastern India's Odisha.

The incident took place in Dhanua village, Tirtol block, Jagatsinghpur district on August 19.

Visuals showed a woman and her two children wearing a life jacket and getting on a boat. The fire officials carried out the entire rescue.

A red warning has been sounded in Odisha’s several districts as heavy to very heavy rainfall was expected even as over 500,000 people have been affected by floods in the state.

The meteorological department said a low-pressure system has been formed over northeast and adjoining areas of the east-central Bay of Bengal. The Odisha government on August 18 declared 15 days of relief for the flood-affected population in five districts.

The declaration was made after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made an aerial survey of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Khordha district.
