According to information from the country's Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, fire-fighting efforts in Borjomi municipality have been strengthened.

According to the agency, three Border Police helicopters are involved in the effort.

"In addition, about 30 fire engines have been mobilised. About 250 firefighters continue to work continuously," it said.

The battle against the blaze is being coordinated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Chelidze, and the Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mghebrishvili, the agency said.

Davit Sukhishvili, head of the fire service, commented: "Difficult climatic conditions complicate fire-extinguishing works in Borjomi municipality. Three border police helicopters have been mobilised to the site, and they will resume the fire-extinguishing work as soon as the wind subsides. The number of firefighters has also increased to 250. We have appropriate equipment at the site and we are working to extinguish the fire."
