Few men on a bike were seen chasing away wild elephants who had come to eat grass at a reserve in Sri Lanka's NorthWestern province.

The incident happened at the Galgamuwa Lake Reserve in Kurunegala District on August 21.

Visuals showed the elephants, who were few in number, entering the spot to eat the grass from the area. One of them was named the Galgamuwa Kavantissa, who is known to be one of the highest class among elephants in the country.

It is known for its height and large body and it reportedly came out only once a year which got the photographers and villagers buzzing about seeing it. However, the men, who were seen in bikes, reportedly chased the wild pachyderms away and also destroyed their grass. A visual emerged where a person was seen driving what appeared to be a carrier car on the grass.

As a result of this behaviour, the elephants try to sneak into villages for food at night, which further leads to conflict between them and humans.
