The Supertech Twin towers in India's Noida have been fitted with 3,500 kg of explosives ready for a huge demolition.

The 40-storey towers are set to be destroyed on August 28 and 5,000 nearby residents have been asked to evacuate their houses by 7 am on the day.

Much talked demolition of Supertech Twin towers ( 40 floors , 100 meters) in Noida sector 93 A will be taking place on 28th of August ( Sunday) at 2:30 PM , for which massive preprations . According to the demolition firm Edifice Engineering they have stuffed the structure with over 3,500 kg of explosives and will conduct the blast from a distance of 100 metres. The towers will be demolished by Edifice Engineering in collaboration with South Africa-based Jet Demolition.
The impact of the demolition will be maximum on two adjoining Emerald Court and ATS Village societies , where around 5000 residents lives which have been asked to vacate their houses by 7 am on 28th August the day of demolition . Over 2,500 vehicles (around 1,200 from Emerald Court and 1,500 from ATS village) will be removed on the day of demolition . The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will also be close for vehicular movement from 2.15 pm to 2.45 pm on August 28. The two towers --Ceyan and Apex-- in Noida’s Sector 93A are 97 meters and 100 meters tall, respectively. The demolition team has finished charging both the towers with explosives; the 40-storey structure will turn into a 35,000-cubic metres pile of rubble and debris in a matter of seconds after the demolition is complete.
On August 31 last year, the Supreme court of India had ordered the demolition of Supertech Ltd's twin towers under construction within three months for violation of building norms in "collusion with NOIDA officials", holding that illegal construction has to be dealt with strictly to ensure compliance with the rule of law. It had directed that the entire amount of home buyers be refunded with 12% interest from the time of the booking and the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) of Emerald Court project be paid ₹2 crore for the harassment caused due to the construction of the twin towers, which would have blocked sunlight and fresh air to the existing residents of the housing project.
