A resourceful man has revealed how he made £250 by reselling a complimentary tote bag he claims to have received for free with his purchase at a Prada store – but has been roasted online.

Emiliano Corona, based in Cancún, Mexico, recently shared the money-making tip on TikTok (@emilianoecv), where his video has since blown up with over 50,000 views.

In the clip, captioned "Prada bag free?", he holds up a fairly plain, brown Prada tote bag.

The TikToker then explains how after buying a cap from his local designer branch, he was allegedly given a free tote bag – which turned out to be a big opportunity to make some money back.

The rafia tote, which features real leather handles and has the iconic Prada logo printed on it, may look like nothing more than a fancy dust cover but it is quite valuable among fashionistas.

The bag can sell for as much as 300 dollars in the US (around £250), with Emiliano bagging £245 for it on eBay.

There is a slight catch to his success though; the TikToker spent around 790 dollars (approx £665) on his cap – meaning he only made a small dent in his shopping bill.

The response on social media has been mixed, with many TikTok users shocked.

"LOL it looks like a very expensive one that they sell HAHAHA," wrote one user. [sic]

"Just as they give it to you.... Nope! You already paid for it with your original purchase," wrote a second person.

"A smart purchase is not to buy a 16k cap," added someone else.

"What a bear that someone buys a shopping bag for 6,000 pesos just because it says Prada," wrote another user. [sic]

However, some people also thanked the TikToker for the tip.

"What a nice bag, thanks for the advice," wrote one user.
