Boris Johnson has announced on Friday (June 9) he is resigning as an MP after accusing a Commons investigation into whether he misled Parliament over partygate of attempting to "drive me out".

"Today, on our Independence Day (August 24), which we celebrate in spite of everything, I have the honor to present Boris with the Order of Freedom on behalf of all Ukrainians. This award fully reflects what Boris has done and is doing for our country and for all of Europe," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement .

"In particular, the British Prime Minister was awarded this order for his outstanding personal contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-British industrial cooperation and maintaining the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," he continued.

Johnson appeared in the Alley of Courage and was given the Order of Freedom award.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Zelensky said this during a joint press conference with Johnson in Kyiv.
