Huge piles of litter have reached heights of more than SIX FOOT thanks to the bin strike in Edinburgh. Pictures taken this morning showed public bins overflowing with black bin liners dumped beside them. Takeaway boxes and food cartons spilled onto the pavement. The strike began on August 18 and is due to finish on August 30, targeting the festival season. Unite and GMB unions took action while the City of Edinburgh Council promised a clean-up would happen immediately after.
