Gigantic ‘tsunami wave' storm clouds terrified residents as they hovered over the Thai capital city Bangkok.

Footage shows the thick, dark mass of clouds blanketing over the city as locals stopped in awe on August 29.

The imposing clouds looked like giant tsunami waves that turned darker as they loomed over the city.

Onlooker Aoh Artthakorn watched the storm cloud slowly moving over a school in his neighbourhood.

He said: 'It was seven in the morning, but it was dark and gloomy. I have never seen anything like it before.'

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
