More Red-capped Parrots – female excavates tree hollow while male perches nearby

Red-capped Parrots (Purpureicephalus spurius ) are only found in (are endemic to) south-western Australia. This pair of Red-capped Parrots was investigating a nest hollow in the trunk of a Tuart tree (Eucalyptus gomphocephala). The brightly coloured male waited nearby while the duller female excavated the tree hollow to make it larger for her nest.
