Raging floods gushed through homes with residents grabbing their belongings as Typhoon Hinnamnor hit the Philippines this afternoon.

Footage shows worried resident Celeste Dulay and neighbours in their village in Batanes, an archipelagic province in the far north of the country just below Taiwan.

Many had to wade through the powerful torrents of muddy water that filled alleyways and the ground floor of homes.

Officials said that Hinnamnor, the strongest tropical storm of 2022, was also forecast to hit China's mainland this weekend after winds reach 160mph.

It has developed gradually this week in the Pacific Ocean while edging towards the Philippines and Taiwan. It has been classed as a category 5 tropical cyclone or a super typhoon.
