Makassar students protest against the increase in fuel oil involved in clashes
A number of Makassar State University (UNM) students were involved in clashes while holding a demonstration against the increase in fuel prices on Jalan AP Pettarani, Makassar City, Indonesia, Monday 5 September 2022 night.
The students were involved in clashes with the police and residents. Attacking each other using stones and firecrackers ensued. Officials from the South Sulawesi Regional Police also defended themselves by using shields to dispel stone-throwing from students who remained on campus.
Clashes with residents also occurred in front of the Gunungsari UNM campus. Several people were injured in the incident. (*)
