This is the hilarious moment a vengeful rat chased after a family that was trying to catch it.

Resident Alaine and her mum were filmed standing on a flight of stairs and using a long pole to poke the creature out from a corner in their home in Metro Manila in the Philippines on September 2.

With nowhere else to go, the creature then turned to square up to the pair before scuttling straight towards their feet.

The emboldened pest proceeded to leap towards the staircase, causing a panic as it made its way to the house's second storey.

Alaine said: 'My mom didn't even see that the rat was already behind her. Unfortunately, it managed to get away. We think it escaped to the neighbour's house.'
