Monkeys climb across cables into residential buildings in search for food
A group of macaques climbed onto residential buildings to hunt for food as the local park closed due to COVID-19 restrictions in southwest China.
Video filmed in the city of Guiyang in Guizhou Province on September 4 shows more than 10 primates intruding into a residential community and climbing onto the buildings and cables.
The macaques were from the nearby Qianlingshan Park and they were used to being fed by tourists.
However, the park was closed due to the pandemic and no tourists fed the macaques anymore. So they broke into the nearby residential community to hunt for food.
According to an employee in the park, they were taking measures such as increasing feeding to encourage the macaques to return to the park.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
