File footage from 2021 shows Queen's last annual summer inspection of Royal Guards at Balmoral
Queen Elizabeth II inspects the Royal Guards outside the gates of the Balmoral in August 2021, the last time she attended the official summer opening at the estate.
Here, the Queen is seen inspecting the Royal Guard from Balaklava Company, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion (5 SCOTS) outside the gates of Balmoral Castle & Estate on August 9 last year.
Traditionally the Queen takes part in the annual summer inspection of the Royal Guards upon her arrival for her summer stay at Balmoral but did not carry this out this year.
Also present were the Black Watch Pipes and Drums of 3 SCOTS, The Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Shetland pony mascot L/Cpl Cruachan IV, with handler Pony Major Mark Wilkinson.
The Queen was being officially welcomed as as she arrived at her summer residence at Balmoral in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The Queen is under medical supervision at her Balmoral holiday home after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday.
