22,000 people ready to evacuate in Southern California as fire continues to rage

This is the view of the raging fire that erupted on September 5 out near Hement, California, from the mandatory evacuation zone that the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has issued.

The blaze extended to 23,919 acres with 5% containment on September 8.

Up to 22,000 people are ready to evacuate. Some have already left their houses following the guidelines outlined by Cal Fire.

Tropical Storm Kay is expected to bring strong winds to California. Experts believe tis would further complicated the firefighters' operation.
