Russian forces launched an attack on a power station located in
Kharkiv’s western outskirts as a response to the successful Ukrainian counter-offensive that is forcing Russia to withdraw from key eastern towns.

The video shows the giant explosion at the Kharkiv's CHPP-5 power plant. The person who captured this on camera said he was nearly killed by it.

The attack, which triggered a massive fire, was part of a wider operation that targeted many infrastructures across Eastern Ukraine.

The bombardment caused power cuts that affected millions of people
in the eastern Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said that much of the city was left without power or water on Sunday evening (September 11).

The footage shows the moment of the explosion, which occurred at night. The shock wave was so powerful that it covered the nearest buildings and flew to an eyewitness who was filming what was happening at that moment. The author of the video signed it with the words: “Almost killed by the explosion.”

Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that a fire broke out at one of the largest combined heat and power plants in Ukraine, Kharkiv CHPP-5.
