A large plume of smoke rose as a massive fire ripped through a warehouse near the March Air Reserve Base in California on Monday.

Video shows a column of thick black smoke billowing from the 500,000-square-foot commercial building in Riverside County on September 12.

The blaze was reported at 1:32 pm local time and ignited some 10 acres of cardboard and outside storage, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

One firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Captain Richard Cordova, a fire department spokesperson, said in an update: 'There's lots and lots of cardboard boxes out here along with material like hangers and clothing. There's a lot of fuel load, and the fuel load is what the fire is actually burning.'

He added that additional personnel from other agencies were at the scene, including March Air Reserve Base, the California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Sheriff's Department and firefighters from Corona and Hemet.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
