A TikToker has gone viral for his uncanny resemblance to Heath Ledger and says obsessive fans refuse to accept it isn't him – despite the actor dying many years ago.

Matthew Scar, 30, a content creator and musician from Italy, based in London, is inundated with attention from movie lovers online and gets bizarre stares in public, with people thinking they've seen a "ghost".

Growing up, he recalls living a rather "normal" life until moving to Perth, Australia, at the age of 20, where a girl approached him and mentioned his lookalike features.

Since then, Matthew, who has over 69,000 followers on TikTok, has become so famous for his appearance that he's even landed a role playing the late Hollywood star in a film.

“I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they were scrolling on social media and had to stop because they thought they saw a ghost,” Matthew told NeedToKnow.Online.

“I'm not often mistaken for him in public, because we all know he’s no longer with us, but I do get people staring while in the park or any public place.

“They usually ask me for a picture and normally the first thing they say when approaching me is: ‘Sorry, I know you must get this a lot but do you know who you look like?’

“I’ve had comments online such as: ‘You look more like Heath Ledger than Heath Ledger’, which was quite funny, and ‘Are you telling me you’re not him?’”

An avid metal music fan, Matthew uploads videos on TikTok expressing his passion – but people are only focused on one thing: his looks.

In one clip, which has racked up 604,000 views and 64,000 likes, he reenacts types of “metalheads” at festivals.

Users have flocked to the comments' section to share their reactions but it's not about the music.

“How often do you get compared to Heath Ledger?” one person commented.

Another person added: “Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levitt conceived this man while filming 10 Things I Hate About You.”

“If Heath and Joseph Gordon Levitt had a child it would be you lol,” someone else added. [sic]

Another user added: “Wait? Heath Ledger?” followed by a stunned face emoji.

“I’m still trying to find a way to not think I’m watching Heath Ledger,” one viewer commented.

While Matthew claims he doesn’t receive any special treatment, his unique appearance has landed him a special job.

After receiving a call from an agency, he was asked to play the role of Heath Ledger in Fatal Addiction, which will be available on streaming platforms in December 2022.

He added: “I simply got a call from a lookalikes agency and they asked if I wanted to play as Heath for a movie.

“It was great fun to be on a movie set and I’m really curious to see the final result of Fatal Addiction in December this year.

“I haven’t been involved in any other productions because of how I look and if I’m honest, I’m focused [on my own success].

“But I am glad that thanks to Heath, I’ve had the opportunity to be on a movie set and sometimes it feels like I’ve been able to do stuff thanks to him, even if we’ve never met.

"I don't know if he can hear me, but I feel like I owe him – basically, I love the guy.

“I loved him as the Joker and in Brokeback Mountain, as well as Candy and his ability to play a different character in each movie is incredible.

“It’s a shame he’s no longer with us and I’m sure if he was, he would’ve given us many more award-winning performances.”
