Hungry free range chickens afraid of scary looking toasted bread.
I made a piece of funny looking scary toast, and offered it to some free range chickens. Usually these chickens will devour anything that they get their beaks on. I have seen them eat live lizards, small frogs, rice, bread and all sorts of insects. So I was very surprised when they seemed too scared to approach my toasted bread. Is this a new discovery? Can chickens identify faces ? It sure looks like it. I will perform some more experiments on this.
In my first experiment, I had a sausage in the mouth of the scary toast, I removed this, incase it was scaring them. It made no difference they were still too scared to come and eat the toast.
