Thousands of Freshers hit Birmingham’s infamous Broad Street on Monday night, 19 September into Tuesday morning as they can finally let their hair down after patiently waiting until the Queen’s funeral was concluded.

The UK student revellers queued outside PRYZM and Heidi’s nightclubs which both had themed nights on to attract the young starters.

Spirits were high with many partygoers posing for a picture and waving at the camera as they walked from club to club.

PRYZM nightclub which has a capacity of around 2000 ravers held a Neon Circus event whilst Heidi’s rewound time with a ’00’s’ music night.

huge queues snaked along the pavement outside PRYZM.

A few newly formed friends helped their mates as they sat on the pavement resting off the night of activities, one lad held a glass of water whilst his friend sat against a tree.

A bloke was also see dancing in the street to music spilling out of venues.

The annual Freshers Week comes as more than 40 universities signed up to an anti-spiking campaign.

Life Stuff’s #endspiking initiative saw institutions offer single-use drink testing kits and point students to online awareness information and resources.

Alcohol Education Trust (AET), the youth charity managing Life Stuff, was moved to act on drink spiking and spiking by injection following the results of an SOS-UK/NUS survey on the issue.

Of the 14% of students who believed they’d been given drugs through their drinks without their knowledge, 70% hadn’t reported it.

With an increasing number of students asking what they should do, AET worked with a group of them to create the new anti-spiking campaign.
