This wildlife videographer captured a beautiful silhouette of a lion settling down as the sun set on South Africa's Kruger National Park.

Footage captured on September 19 features the male lion strolling over to the rest of the pride before toppling over for a rest.

"There are sometimes moments on safari where you are just at the right time and the right place," the filmer said.

They added: "On our arrival, I couldn’t believe the beautiful setting we found. The lions were lying on top of a small hill with the sun setting just behind them.

"The last few minutes of the sun above the horizon and the lions lying on an elevated area made for perfect silhouette photos and footage opportunities.

"I couldn’t believe the beauty of a quick moment when a big male lion got up and slowly walked right in front of the setting sun, then lying down again with one leg up in the air, looking funny and beautiful at the same time.

"I was very happy and lucky to have been able to capture this moment at the right time with the lions lying in the right place."

It was just before sunset and usually a good time to view lions in general. On our arrival I couldn’t believe the beautiful setting we found. The lions were lying on top of a small hill with the sun setting just behind them. The last few minutes of the sun above the horizon and the lions lying on an elevated area made for perfect silhouette photos and footage opportunities.
