A newborn baby girl born was found dumped in a muddy forest in Thailand.

The bloodied infant - believed to be an hour old - was wrapped in a blanket and abandoned in a ditch when a passing farmer heard her in Kalasin province on September 19.

She was crying loudly but the area where she was discarded was an isolated spot next to a road so few people nearby could hear.

The farmer, Attiwat Jin, picked her up, and after a period of waving for aid on the roadside, a local rescue worker drove by who stopped and contacted the hospital to send an ambulance.

The villager said: ‘I came to collect grass to feed my cows but then I heard a crying sound, so I looked around and saw an abandoned baby girl.

An ambulance was sent to the area where medics did an initial check on the baby before rushing her to the hospital. They found some bruises on her body but was generally healthy.

The rescuer Sittidech Yodtongchai said: 'I was on my way home after my shift when I heard a call. I saw a local with the baby so I called the hospital to send a team and bring equipment because she had some bruises.'

The hospital confirmed that the baby was healthy and that she would be cared for for the time being while the bruises on her body could be from falling. They also said she was born not more than an hour after being found dumped in the area.

The police are now searching for the person who abandoned the children so that legal action may be taken.
