A ginger moggie amused zoo-goers when it tried to blend in with a family of capybaras at a zoo in Malaysia.

The orange tabby, affectionately named 'Oyen' in the local language, was spotted by eagle-eyed observers resting next to the herd of large rodents at the National Zoo of Malaysia in Selangor on September 11.

The video pans across the enclosure before zooming in on the feline impostor - seen dozing off amid the lazy, rainy weather as tourists squealed with delight at the adorable sight.

The animals appeared to be huddling together for warmth, with the kitty also joining in.

Neither the cat nor the capybaras seemed to mind each other's presence while sheltering from the downpour under a log.

Frequent zoo visitors suspect it is the same cat found napping peacefully in the same enclosure a year ago.
