Ohio GOP candidate J.R. Majewski hits back against Afghanistan military service questions
Ohio GOP candidate J.R. Majewski broke down in tears as he told how his family has received death threats - hitting back at claims questioning his 'proud Afghanistan military service'.
The Republican - who has been endorsed by well-liked former president Donald Trump - is hoping to defeat longtime Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur in a northwestern Ohio congressional seat in November.
However, military documents obtained by the Associated Press this week reportedly cast doubt on the veteran's service in the Middle East.
Speaking in an exclusive video today, J.R. Majewski welled up in tears as he defended his 'proud military service' and hit out against 'bloodthirsty Democrat politics' that has seen his 'family receive death threats'.
He said: 'Over the past 12 to 16 hours, I've received multiple death threats. So has my wife, and so have many members of my team, all because Marcy Kaptur and the liberal media are scared that I'm going to win on November 8th.
'They're scared that Marcy's 40 years - democratic demise in the 9th district in Ohio - are gonna come to an end.
'Did I serve my country, our country? Proudly. Multiple bases in the Middle East. Multiple bases in Afghanistan, my team and I provided logistic support for fighters on the frontline. I never believed that I would have to defend my military service, but here I am.
'This is what politics have come to. Democrats are so bloodthirsty to retain their power that they're willing to attack me, a democrat. A guy who spends a lot of time supporting veterans.
'In today's America, it's a crime to love your country. It's a crime to support President Trump.
'I'm not gonna sit on my hands anymore. I'm not gonna be quiet about this. This is a shame. Marcy Kaptur, you should be ashamed of yourself.
'That's all I have to say. I'm gonna continue to fight. This country needs fighters, and I'm one of them. And this district elected me to fight for them, and I'm gonna do that.
'I thank all of you. God bless you. Listen to the signal, but not the noise.'
The United States Air Force has confirmed J.R.'s statement that it has no records of mission from the base in Qatar where he was stationed to the front line in Afghanistan.
J.R. said it is common for airmen stationed in Qatar to move and fly into bases throughout the Middle East, including Afghanistan.
