Demonstrators in London’s Trafalgar Square on Saturday 24 September burned bras and cut their own hair in protest at the death of Mahsa Amini in Iranian police custody.

Mahsa Amini died after being detained by Iran’s feared morality police, allegedly for not wearing her hijab correctly and for trousers that were too tight under her outer garments.

Photographs of her body suggest she had been beaten, though Iranian police claim her death was of natural causes.

Her death has sparked protests across Iran and the world.

The protesters in London had diverse backgrounds although many were nationalist and some royalists held up photographs of the last Shah of Iran.

Others were Kurdish, like Mahsa Amini herself, with still others being liberal, feminist and more. A rainbow LGBTQ flag was also among those flown at the rally.
