Protesters hurled paint bombs at the Iranian embassy in London on Sunday 25 September, prompting arrests.

Dozens of riot police were deployed to guard the building, some of whose windows also appeared to have been broken.

Protesters holding signs and chanting continued their rally opposite the embassy despite the beefed-up police presence.

It followed large protests on Saturday, both outside the Embassy and in Trafalgar Square, demanding an end to the regime in Tehran.

The protests began over the death of young Kurdish-Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in Iran.

She was detained by Iran’s morality police, allegedly for not wearing her hijab correctly and for trousers that were too tight under her outer garments, and later died.

Supporters say a police beating caused her death but the police claimed it was the result of natural causes.

Her death has sparked protests across Iran and around the world.
