Tropical storm Fiona has left significant damage and devastation in Nova Scotia, a province in Canada.

Fiona washed houses into the sea, tore the roofs off others, and knocked out power for hundreds of thousands in eastern Canada.

The footage shows trees uprooted by the storm and damage on the streets of Sydney, Cape Breton Island.

Fiona made landfall on Saturday (September 24) bringing strong winds. It was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone on Friday (September 23).

A state of emergency was declared.
