A kind-hearted resident adopted a stray kitten after it was rescued from a river in northern China.

Video filmed in the city of Shenyang in Liaoning Province on September 10 shows a man attempting to use a fishing net to rescue the feline that was stranded on the bridge's support structure. The kitten eventually fell into the water.

After residents brought the cat back onto the shore, they performed CPR on it to resuscitate it.

A woman adopted the cat and took it to a vet to have a check-up.

The cat suffered from congenital anal atresia and septicemia. The feline was hospitalised for more than 10 days for treatment.

The cat has now been discharged from hospital.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
