A lucky escape - Pacific Black Duck ducklings trapped in stormwater trash interceptor
Pacific Black Ducks (Anas superciliosa)are one of Australia’s most common waterfowl. Female Pacific Black Ducks often lay large clutches of eggs, but many ducklings are often lost to predators. This video shows a large group of almost adult-sized immature Pacific Black Ducks that had swum into a stormwater trash interceptor on the south side of Herdsman Lake and were frantically trying to escape while their mother waited nearby. The ducklings escaped after several attempts and joined their mother before swimming off.
